A quantitative study carried out by TSI (Thirdsectorimpact) national stakeholder organization France Bénévolat on the development of volunteering in non-profit associations in France between 2010 and 2016 shows a growth rate of 16,8%. While in some European countries the recruitment of younger volunteers is a challenge, French associations managed a 33% increase of volunteers under the age of 35 years, making this age group with the strongest growth rate. Senior citizens, in the other hand, seem to engage less.
Despite stable figures in regular volunteering, direct volunteering is on the decrease. France Bénévolat suggests that this might indicate a need to revert to more collective action.
